Chesterfield Garland Dancers perform 'Whitby'

Описание к видео Chesterfield Garland Dancers perform 'Whitby'

Chesterfield Garland dancers performed at the Renishaw Hall Food and Craft fair in August 2024. I have produced a compilation video of clips from several of their dances, but thought that 'Whitby' was worth posting in full.
The 'verses' of the dance symbolise various features of the town of Whitby, such as the windows on the ruined abbey, the swing bridge in the middle of town and the whalebone arch up on the hill. These are in this order, with the chorus at start, finish and between each of the verses:
Flowergate
Abbey Windows
Swing Bridge
Bandstand
Up the steps
Whale bones
Round the town
You can probably tell from some sound problems that it was a windy day!
If you live near Chesterfield, the the side is always happy to have new members - ladies only as dancers, but musicians of all genders and with most acoustic instruments are welcome.
There are currently more than 80 Morris dancing videos on my YouTube channel, with a few more to come before the end of the year.
