This video demonstrates the firing order and gear shifting for the flatplane Yamaha R1 (I used the same redline and gear ratios as the late model Crossplane R1, no idea id the early models that had flatplane engines revved this high, or higher, or what the gear ratios were)

The firing order shown here is 1 3 4 2.

Up in the video is forward on the motorcycle.

For the purposes of comparison to the crossplane R1s the firing interval of the engine shown here is:

1 - 180 degrees - 3 - 180 degrees - 4 - 180 degrees - 2 - 180 degrees -

where degrees are crank degrees, and a complete engine cycle is 720 degrees.
