Aberdeen Beach, often hailed as the "Silver City with the Golden Sands," is a spectacular coastal feature in Scotland's North East, renowned for its extensive curve of pale, golden sand stretching for approximately three kilometres along Aberdeen Bay.

Backed by the Esplanade and the Queen's Links, the beach acts as a vital recreational artery for the Granite City, attracting visitors year-round for bracing walks and seaside activities. Due to the dynamic nature of the North Sea coastline and natural erosion, the beach is protected by distinctive rock and wooden groyne structures, which work to trap sand and maintain the shoreline. The strong coastal winds also make the area popular with watersports enthusiasts, including kite-surfers and windsurfers, who brave the chilly North Sea waves.

The Queen's Links area immediately behind the beach is a vibrant hub of traditional seaside entertainment and modern leisure facilities. This stretch features the iconic Art Deco Beach Ballroom, a historic venue built in the late 1920s as part of a grand beach improvement scheme to establish Aberdeen as a leading holiday resort. Adjoining the beach are attractions like Codona's Amusement Park, with its traditional funfair rides, and the Linx Ice Arena, ensuring that the beach offers a full day out regardless of the weather. This blend of natural beauty and developed amusement park atmosphere provides a uniquely Scottish seaside experience, just a short walk from the city's granite architecture.

Beyond the leisure attractions, Aberdeen Beach is a notable spot for wildlife observation, particularly at the southern end near the harbour mouth and the northern end at the River Don estuary. The waters off the coast are famously home to a resident pod of bottlenose dolphins, which are frequently seen leaping and playing close to the harbour entrance, especially from vantage points like Torry Battery. Additionally, seals are a common sight, often hauled out on the sandbanks at the mouth of the River Don, and various seabirds and waders can be spotted along the shore. The city is currently investing heavily in the area through its Beachfront Masterplan, which promises to enhance the public green spaces, improve connectivity to the city centre, and further solidify the beach's reputation as a prime coastal destination.
