SURF Bs vs Putaruru Bs at Nola Block Park on 15th June 2024

Saturday 15th June 2024 was the Local Derby for South Waikato – Putaruru the hosts, playing their southern neighbours – SURF of Tokoroa. The weather was a bit threatening with a decent westerly blowing and skiffs of showers coming in. It did clear up, but doing the video from the southern treeline on Field No.2 meant the camera was often facing the sun and it became difficult to get a good picture, so keeping the zoom up and the camera lower yielded good results.
SURF B’s were on the board first with an unconverted try after fourteen minutes. 15 minutes later, 7 further points were added. A third try just before half time gave SURF B’s the lead by 19 – 0 .
Putaruru B’s were first on the board twelve minutes into the second half with a converted try. About eight minutes later, they scored their second try, although unconverted. A further 8 minutes later and SURF scored again for their fourth try and another 5 points to be 24 – 12.
Putaruru were unable to make any further gains but were steadfast to the end.
