Vexilla Regis prodeunt;
fulget Crucis mysterium,
quo carne carnis conditor
suspensus est patibulo.
Confixa clavis viscera
tendens manus, vestigia,
redemptionis gratia
hic immolata est hostia.

Impleta sunt quae concinit
David fideli carmine,
dicendo nationibus:
regnavit a ligno Deus.

Beata, cuius brachiis
pretium pependit saeculi:
statera facta corporis,
praedam tulitque tartari.

Salve, ara, salve, victima,
de passionis gloria,
qua vita mortem pertulit
et morte vitam reddidit.

Király zászlói lengenek
villog titkával a Kereszt,
melyre húsban függesztetett
aki minden húst alkotott.

Szögekkel verve tagjai,
kinyújtva lába és keze…
Itt függ a véres áldozat
ki a megváltás ára volt.

Így tell be mit Dávid király
hív verse egykor énekelt
hirdetvén minden nép között:
„Fájáról kormányzand az Úr!”

Te áldott, kinek ága közt
a világ Kincse lebegett,
te lettél teste mérlege
s a poklot megrabolta fád.

Üdvözlégy oltár s áldozat,
melyen a dicső szenvedés
esett: az Élet halt halált
s holtával adott életet!
