Transportul public din Municipiul Timișoara.

Timișoara este reședința județului Timiș, cu o populație de 250,849 locuitori. Este situată în vestul țării, în regiunea Banat, iar prin oraș trece râul Bega. Timișoara este primul oraș din Europa cu iluminat public stradal din 1884.
Transportul în comun este asigurat de compania SPTP (Societatea de Transport Public Timișoara).
Transportul în comun este compus din tramvaie, autobuze și troleibuze.
Rețeaua de tramvai a fost inagurată în anul 1868, când orașul era ocupat de Imperiul Austro-Ungar, iar electrificarea a avut loc în anul 1899.
În prezent, rețeaua are 7 trasee, cu o lungime de 71,4 kilometri, iar ecartamentul este standard (1435 mm).
În prezent circulă tramvaiele Hansa GT4, procurate în anii 1995 și 1998 din Brema, Germania, Astra Armonia (tramvaie modernizate din Wagmann GT4) și noile tramvaie Bozankaya GT6.
Troleibuzul din Timișoara a fost inagurat în anul 1942. În prezent sunt 9 linii și rețeaua are o lungime de 70,46 kilometri. În prezent, flota este formată din troleibuze Skoda 24tr, Irisbus, iar în acest an vor ajunge noile troleibuze Bozankaya.
Timișoara a fost primul oraș din România unde a fost introdusă o rețea de troleibuz.
Transportul cu autobuzul este asigurat de 11 linii urbane, 8 linii express, 15 linii de autobuze școlare și 16 trasee metropolitane.
În timpul verii, transportul din Timișoara mai este asigurat prin intermediul vapoarelor pe râul Bega. Această linie se numește Vaporetto.

Timișoara is the capital of Timiș County, with a population of 250,849. It is located in the west of the country, in the Banat region, and the Bega River flows through the city. Timișoara is the first city in Europe with public street lighting since 1884.
Public transport is provided by the company SPTP (Societatea de Transport Public Timișoara).
Public transport consists of trams, buses and trolleybuses.
The tram network was inaugurated in 1868, when the city was occupied by the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and electrification took place in 1899.
Currently, the network has 7 routes, with a length of 71.4 kilometers, and the gauge is standard (1435 mm).
