Ole Summer, (1931-2018), MSc in Automotive Engineering, owned his own car business for more then 50 years.
Over the years he collected a number of cars and engines, which reflected his romantic attitude to cars and technique illustrated by sporty creations from the most exciting period of car design.

Back in 1959 Ole Sommer launched his dream of creating a automobile museum with the purchase of his first historic car. In the following years, the first cars were lent to various Danish museums. In 1980 they were gathered over the car shop in Nærum. In 2004, Sommer's Automobile Museum moved into the newly built 3-storey, ideal museum building, Nærum Main Street 3.

The Volvo and Jaguar car brands are central. But Ole Sommer's fascination with efficient technical constructions characterizes the collection. This has resulted in a diverse group of sporting and older automobiles.

The Volvo special exhibition.
A total of 29 beautiful classic Volvos in a historical time process – from the museum's own ÖV 4 from 1927 – to the great American-inspired pre-war models – including the ÖV 4. the extremely rare and exclusive PV 36 "Carioca" – for the PV 444/544, Amazon, 1800 sports models, 140/240 and 700 series, the first Dutch and front-wheel-drive Volvos – up to 850 T-5 R from 1995. At the special exhibition there are also a number of manor cars – the type of car that has been Volvo's great success for the last 50 years. And of course we also show Sommer's self-developed special cars with Volvo technology. Thanks to a unique goodwill from the owners of the cars on display, the special exhibition will continue until 28 March 2022.

Civilingeniør Ole Summer (1931-2018), ejede sin egen bilforretning i mere end 50 år. I årenes løb har han indsamlet en række biler og motorer, som afspejlede hans romantiske holdning til biler og teknik illustreret ved sporty kreationer fra de mest spændende periode af bildesign.

Ole Sommer søsatte helt tilbage i 1959 sin drøm om at skabe et automobil museum med købet af sin første historiske bil. I den efterfølgende årrække blev de første biler udlånt til forskellige danske museer. I 1980 blev de samlet over bilforretningen i Nærum. I 2004 flyttede Sommer’s Automobile Museum ind i den nybyggede 3-etages, ideelle museums bygning, Nærum Hovedgade 3.

Volvo- og Jaguar-bilmærkerne er centrale. Men Ole Sommers fascination af effektive tekniske konstruktioner præger kollektionen. Dette har resulteret i en forskelligartet gruppe af sportslige og ældre biler.

Volvos sær udstilling. I alt 29 smukke klassiske Volvoer i en historisk tidsproces – fra museets egen ÖV 4 fra 1927 – til de store amerikansk inspirerede førkrigsmodeller – herunder ÖV 4. den ekstremt sjældne og eksklusive PV 36 "Carioca" - for PV 444/544, Amazon, 1800 sports-modeller, 140/240 og 700 serien, den første hollandske og forhjulstræk Volvos - op til 850 T-5 R fra 1995. På særudstillingen er der også en række herregårds biler – den type bil, der har været Volvos store succes de sidste 50 år. Og selvfølgelig viser vi også Sommers selv udviklede special biler med Volvo-teknologi. Takket være en unik goodwill fra ejerne af de udstillede biler fortsætter særudstillingen indtil den 28. marts 2022.
