Join us on a sunny morning walk through the market town of Maidstone, England. The County Town of Kent.

Maidstone is the largest town in Kent and is approx. 32 miles south-east of London on the River Medway, which runs through the centre of the town. The river links Maidstone to nearby towns and London, via the Thames Estuary.

Historically, the town is important with the river carrying much of the town's trade. It was the agricultural centre of Kent, which is known as the Garden of England. Due to the topography and river the has been settlement in the area dating back before the Stone Age. The town also played a key role during the Peasants' Revolt of 1381 and during the English Civil War. The Battle of Maidstone took place in 1648 and it was the mayor of Maidstone who declared the death sentence of Charles I, at the end of the war. Woven paper was also invented by James Whatman, in Maidstone.

In the 19th Century an fossillised iguanodon was discovered in the town and it is now on display in the Natural History Museum in London.
