Sonic Robo Blast 2 Is The Best Sonic Fangame Ever Made - Full Playthrough

Is the YouTube title kind of exaggerated? Probably, but I do enjoy Sonic Robo Blast 2 a great deal, even though first time playing it I was having a hard time getting adjusted to the controls and just how different it is to any other Sonic game, fangame or otherwise. But the more I played it, the more I adjusted to the controls and the more I started to appreciate just how much effort and care was put into each zone, especially considering the fact that SRB2's making spans for more than 20 years since it's beginnings.

Made by the folks at Sonic Team Jr., Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a 3D open-source Sonic the Hedgehog fangame built using a modified version of the Doom Legacy port of Doom. SRB2 is closely inspired by the original Sonic games from the Sega Genesis, and attempts to recreate the design in 3D. While SRB2 isn't fully completed, it already features tons of levels, enemies, speed, and quite a lot of the fun that the original Sonic games provided (as read from their SRB2 page).

As for the playthrough, I started with version 2.2.2 but updated to 2.2.4 mid playthrough, though there aren't any differences that I noticed (mostly some bug fixes). Done on a fresh new save file with Sonic only using the Simple control scheme and playing with a controller as opposed to keyboard and mouse (even though for speedrunning it's better, though with some finetunning and controller stick deadzone adjustment via Steam, I found a suitable enough control scheme). I also used the OpenGL renderer with the 3D models pack since it gives the game a more pleasing aesthetic in my opinion.

Went for the special stages early on to get the 7 chaos emeralds as soon as possible, though I only showcase Super Sonic once, because I didn't want interrupt the music.

I'm surprised other bigger Sonic channels haven't covered much, if at all Sonic Robo Blast 2. The base campaign already is pretty great as it is, but the modding community for SRB2 is something else. You know a Sonic fangame is good when it has tons of mods for it.
