The body of late eminent lawyer Ralph Kasambala has been laid to rest at his home Village Chijere in the area of Senior Chief Timbiri Nkhata Bay.

Thousands of mourners from all walks of life were led by Minister of Defence Harry Mkandiwire who is also Vice President of Malawi Congress Party to pay their last respect to the celebrated lawyer Ralph Kasambala SC who suddenly died on June 7th 2024, in area 47 LIlongwe.

In his Eurology Mkandiwire who represented President Chakwera said the President was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ralph Kasambala SC, a renowned legal mind and dedicated servant of justice and described it as a loss to the nation.

Representing the District Commissioner for Nkhata Bay Moses Jere who is Nkhata Bay Principal Administration Officer commended government according Kasambala a state funeral in recognition of his great contributions made to the country.

Member of Parliament for Nkhata Bay North West Honorable Julius Chione described late Kasambala as somebody who had a zeal in education witnessed by construction of a school in the constituency and others projects not forgetting fruitful contributions he made to Mdauko wa Tonga.

A family representative, Ben Chirwa said the family has lost a pillar.

"Ralph has gone but his contributions to the family and country at large wil not be forgotten. We will always live to remember his legacy,love and resilience." Chirwa said.

Among the top officials present at the burial ceremony included the Minister of Local Government Unity and Culture Honorable Richard Chimwendo Banda, Minister of Homeland security Honorable Zikhale Ngo'ma , Mkakawanthu Madisi representing Chief Justice, Catherine Gotani Hara Speaker of National Assembly, Former Vice President Khumbo Kachali, Victor Gondwe representing Malawi Law Society, Uladi Mussa, Nkhata Bay, Former Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale, the Clergy ,Senior Chiefs among others.

Kasambala went to Chancellor college where he got his law degree with a distinction before landing a scholarship to study a Masters Degree at University of Notre Dame Law School, South Bend, Indiana in the United States of America.

Born on September 26th 1969 and survived by his wife Maggie Kasambala and three sons, Cornelius, Wanogza and Tazizwa Kasambala has been laid to rest at his home Village Chijere in the area of Senior Chief Timbiri Nkhata Bay.
