Street Running Trains Galore! Full Day & Bonus Michigan City & Franklin Ohio! Hour Street Running!

Freight trains running right down the middle of the road! Huge freight trains in the street in downtown LaGrange, Kentucky! This CSX, ex Louisville & Nashville Railway L&N line runs from Louisville, Kentucky to Cincinnati Ohio Queensgate Yard. Every 24 hours there are between 10 and 11 trains that run down the middle of Main Street and you can drive your car right on the track. Trains go 10 mph through town until the locomotives clear the street and then they increase speed up to 25 mph. I spent a whole day here on December 7, 2019 for Light Up LaGrange. Notice how people are all over the tracks when the trains pass through. This is a no train horn zone but trains do blow their horns as needed since it is common for cars to back out in front of them and for people to walk across the street in front of them. Also included in this video are a couple clips of street running trains from Michigan City, Indiana and Franklin, Ohio. Trains use 161.370 to call out the signals and the track defect detectors use this frequency also. Most trains run southbound since most of the northbounds are being rerouted through Indiana. There is also a new railfan platform on the north end of town near the train station. Update: Since I filmed this there are fewer trains due to PSR. Today, 2022, there are only about 8 trains a day.
