Valentino, Gucci, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Alessandro Michele - A Timeline of Events Leading up to Today

There is a lot to say about what's been happening at Valentino and Gucci, with Pierpaolo Piccioli leaving and Alessandro Michele becoming the new creative director.

I started looking into it and I accidentally found out that there are so many connections between the people involved that go way back and span a few of the same companies. I know that there's obviously a finite number of luxury companies and people will move back and forth from companies, and the same companies will end up coming up a lot of the time - I've worked in bridge and luxury fashion and seen this happening and to be honest I didn't think much of it.

I have made a video about the timeline of events at both Gucci and Valentino that have led up to where we are today. I have also written an article about this situation which explores the concepts of exclusivity and democratization in fashion - two ideas that are being heavily discussed right now.
