"Shadow of the Day," the fifth track on Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight," explores the emotional struggle of letting go of someone who is about to die. The keyboard loop underwent numerous changes, using instruments like piano, acoustic guitar, marimba, xylophone, and electric banjo, before finalizing the version we hear today.
