Bad Mojo (PC) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео Bad Mojo (PC) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Rapid Pulse Entertainment and Acclaim's 1996 horror adventure game for PCs running Windows 3.1/95, Bad Mojo.

This recording is of the original 1996 CD release, not of the 2004 enhanced Redux version.

After the true ending and the credit roll I've placed recordings of the three possible bad endings (1:25:41, 1:26:52, and 1:29:05). They're all quite different from one another, and they're all pretty depressing.

I was really trying to think of a really scary and/or creepy game to play for Halloween when I remembered this gem. My sister and I played the demo from a PC Gamer demo CD SOOO many times over, but we never had the full game. Years later when Bad Mojo Redux was released I grabbed it cheap and played it relentlessly for a few weeks.

You play an entomologist who becomes a cockroach. Yeah, he's quite blatantly a somewhat one-dimensional Gregor Samsa plonked in a modern-day hovel of a bar/apartment. You control the roach from a bird's-eye view as you explore the disgustingly filthy building on some contrived quest for self-identity.

While that might not sound totally positive, this game is as thoroughly awesome as it is unique and uncomfortable. The environments are incredibly well done (it's an amazing show of what can be done in 256 colors) and easy to navigate, but they are loaded with things like squirming larvae, a nest of squirming newborn mice, butchered rodents - it is not something for the squeamish. The soundtrack is also brilliantly done - it's very 90s, and oftentimes the heavily electronic music and sound effects unsettle even more than the visuals.

The controls are obnoxiously sensitive, but they're great in how simple they are - the only keys needed are the arrows. The space bar enters a menu. That's it.

All in all, this is a stellar game that doesn't feel its age in the slightest, and is still unlike just about anything else out there, even 20 years after its release.

Just try to forgive it for the random and shameless (though fairly subtle) advertising of Iron Helix. Ugh.
