This is that moment. Newly regenerated on the planet Karn, the Time Lord formerly known as the Doctor suffers a crisis of identity.
Will he be able to leave his past behind, and join the Time War? In honour of the 5th anniversary of the War Doctor's reveal on May 18th, 2013... let's find out.

A video extending the aftermath of 8's regeneration was suggested in a comment a while back, but it wasn't until I picked up the novelisation of The Day of the Doctor that I decided to make it. The book really lets you get inside the Doctor's head and see his emotions in a way that the episode could never show. So I've come back here and made this video, where we see the Doctor apparently discard his title - but he still doesn't feel like a warrior in his hearts.

I am aware that Sir John Hurt sadly passed away in January 2017. I hope this video remembers him appropriately, as the performances in it are the real him, from Crime and Punishment (1979), rather than being CGI. I have nothing but respect for Hurt and his passing. R.I.P.
