Ride Along Rescore - Proposal Scene
Check out my new re-score for a romantic comedy scene.🫰🏻❤️🥰
It's an excellent mood to compose—very relaxing. In contrast, I used some long articulations for romantic parts and short ones for comedy. It works so well!
Don't think it's simpler than composing to action or animation! Although they have a lot of orchestration techniques, and huge orchestral handling (huge time-consuming 😬) in romance and comedy you need to understand delicate and precise things.
When to fit hitpoints, when to have space for free writing melodic music, and when to make silence. 🤓
Don't overdo notes in comedy, cause silence is the key, I had to reduce it many times to increase this emotion.
I tried to represent her delicate walking down the stairs and the good vibe conversation between them with a guitar, electric guitar, strings, vibraphone, harp, glocken.
The part of the upcoming good news worked with some anxious pedal notes in the muted guitar, harp, and some light percussions, like shakers and drums lead cymbals. I also added an electric bass with some cool vibes too.
When he proposes, silence is used to indicate that something went wrong. The following part of him explaining himself has only isolated phrases, without pedal notes, making everything a little off the beat.
For harmony, I used simple chord progressions with some prepared dissonance. Also, the use of major 6, 7, or 9 chords, Lydian mode, and chromatic mediants between major chords create a peaceful mood.
