Описание к видео Reverend William Emerson's Account of the North Bridge Fight (read by Park Volunteer Henry Cooke)

Reverend William Emerson of Concord served as the town's minister from 1765 until 1776. In July of that year he left to serve as a Chaplain to the Continental "Northern" Army at Fort Ticonderoga. By early September he had become ill and was soon discharged. On October 20th he died in Rutland VT while on his hopeless journey home.

In the spring of 1775, that all lay in the future. Reverend Emerson was known to be a warm Patriot and inspired his community to action in the face of growing adversity from the British government. On April 19th he turned out early with his fellow townsmen and was an eyewitness to the events that unfolded in Concord that morning.
