(Español) Mobilizing Impact: How GFW Drives Innovation and Collaboration to Combat Deforestation

Global Forest Watch (GFW) has changed the way people and businesses manage forests by making forest data and insights globally accessible, enabling action to halt deforestation.

The annual tree cover loss data from the University of Maryland, available on GFW, and expert analysis from World Resources Institute on forest trends have helped to create greater transparency on the state of the world’s forests. This open-source data has provided a robust foundation for new tools as well as catalyzed technological innovation and collaboration – an example is the Forest Data Partnership, a global consortium that is building on open data to develop new geospatial data solutions on commodities most linked to deforestation.

During this webinar, we will explore how GFW’s data and tools have enabled users to reduce, prevent and raise awareness around deforestation. We will also examine how GFW’s partners have harnessed GFW’s data to develop new kinds of solutions for public good to drive transformational change, whether to empower journalists or to clean up supply chains.

A decade ago, the launch of GFW ushered in a new era of accountability and transparency around monitoring and protecting the world's forests.
