This summer, I had the opportunity to take a seminar abroad in Germany about the Bauhaus art school, timed perfectly in light of the centennial as the school opened in 1919. In just three weeks, I made amazing friends with whom I really got to explore the art, architecture, design, fashion, and social impact of the Bauhaus movement.

With my peers and instructors, we started our trip in Berlin to situate ourselves in Germany as we explored the city on bikes and took a crash course in German for a few days! Then we went to Dessau, where we actually got to stay in the dorms where Bauhaus students lived, allowing us to really experience life at the Bauhaus as we ate meals together and spent lots of time on the balconies, admiring the views together. Following Dessau, we went to Weimar, where the school actually started and got to really learn about the history of both the movement and the city through walking tours and museums. We ended our trip in Berlin where we presented final projects and enjoyed our last few days together as a group.
