With surging gas prices, long roadtrips are out of the question right now. Martha's Vineyard is a tad too far, so the next best thing is a day trip to City Island up in The Bronx. City Island was a fishing village and is located just off the coast of The Bronx, right by Pelham Bay Park aka the last stop on the #6 subway line. It has a New England vibe and is a hopping place during the summers. Visitors swarm the little island for its seafood and antique shops.

Sammy has a strong presence on the island, with various restaurants bearing his name. From Sammy's Fish Box to Sammy's Shrimp Box, his mini empire is evidence that he's the king of seafood on City Island. With the nice weather, we opted to check out Sammy's Tropical Patio (affiliated with Sammy's Fish Box) and dine al fresco. Come along for this seafood adventure!
