"I think every stone is significant in the quality that they are - sizes, colour, clarity, cut, position of the brilliance of the stone. You have a 38 carat D-colour diamond that's in for 2 million 3 (2.3), and then you have a five carat intense blue diamond that's also in for 2 million 3 (2.3). So, they're actually very significant gems that are very hard to find and they're in one of the most important auctions for the year in a market that's fantastic."

"The way the market is today, anyone out there is looking for a stone between 300-thousand dollars to a million dollars. There's great markets in the Middle East, Russia, India, China - all of which used to be the emerging markets and today they are here and we hear of new billionaires every single day so if the goods are right, if the quality is great, there's a buyer for every single jewel here."

STORYLINE:
Jewels and watches worth a total of 25 (m) million US dollars are to go under the hammer at Christie's auction house in New York next week.
Rubies, emeralds, and diamonds - some worth up to 2.5 (m) million US dollars - will be featured at the "Magnificent Jewels" sale.
One of them is a 40 carat diamond ring, expected to fetch over 2 (m) million US dollars.
Another exceptional jewel is a rare five carat blue diamond, that could sell for up to 3 (m) million US dollars.
"I think every stone is significant in the quality that they are - sizes, colour, clarity, cut, position of the brilliance of the stone," said Rahul Kadakia, Head of Jewellery at Christie's.
Buyers could be from all over the world, even countries once considered "emerging markets" like Russia, India, and China, Kadakia said.
"We hear of new billionaires every single day so if the goods are right, if the quality is great, there's a buyer for every single jewel here," he said.
Around 370 pocket and wristwatches will also be up for auction, including one thought to be worth over a quarter of a (m) million US dollars.
Items from the estate of late US actress Lucille Ball will also be auctioned.
The auction will take place on Tuesday.
