Carl Tausig - 2 Concert Etudes (audio + sheet music)

Описание к видео Carl Tausig - 2 Concert Etudes (audio + sheet music)

Dedicated to fellow concert pianist Maria Kalergis, Carl Tausig's 2 Concert Etudes are published in 1871, the same year he died of typhoid fever. They are cataloged as Op. 1, alongside his ballad "The Ghost Ship", and an impromptu piece. While the Lisztian influence can be seen in these studies, Tausig made sure that they are given a distinct style of his own.

No. 1 is in F-sharp major, marked Presto appassionato. While the tempo marking is a challenge already, as well as the the "quasi bravura" nature of the piece, the 2-against-3 polyrhythms kicks up the difficulty level a few notches.

No. 2 in A-flat major, marked Moderato, has a similar feel to Liszt's Un sospiro -- a never-ending wave of demisemiquavers that definitely needs cooperation of both hands, crossing them over if needed.
