Lionesses of Africa hosted Start-Up Night Africa in The Hague on 17 September 2025, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

The third Start-Up Night Africa event in The Hague linked Africa’s high-growth women entrepreneurs with European investments, as well as women entrepreneurs in the Netherlands seeking access to African markets.

The event’s primary focus was on emphasising the crucial role of investment and partnerships in bridging the gender finance gap for high-growth women entrepreneurs in both Africa and the Netherlands. Held again in The Hague, the event was organised by Lionesses of Africa, a rapidly growing social impact organisation with over 1.8 million women entrepreneurs across Africa, in collaboration with the Netherlands' Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ten women entrepreneurs from Africa and the Netherlands, seeking investment and partnerships to expand into European and African markets, pitched their businesses to the audience.

Opening remarks were made by Melanie Hawken, founder and CEO of Lionesses of Africa, and Peter Derrek Hof, Ambassador for Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, Director of Social Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also delivering a Special Address titled ‘Bridging the funding gap for women entrepreneurs’ was Jules Ngankam, Group Chief Executive Officer of the African Guarantee Fund (AGF).
