This is part of a series dedicated to exploring the medical corps of the Roman Army. In part 1 (   • Roman Military Hospitals (Staff and Facili...  ) we looked at its high level organization and infrastructure. This involved a review of the ranks of the army doctors and the layout of the army hospital.

In this episode we now explore the application of Rome's military medicine. This begins with a look at our ancient sources from the likes of Galen and Celsus. We then cover their proposed treatments for various battlefield injuries. This includes how to stop bleeding, how to bandage wounds, how to deal with cuts from swords and how to deal from projectiles such as arrows, javelins, and slings.
