⭐️ Written in dedication to my great-great grandfather Joseph Baker, who sailed aboard the Lusitania on October 24, 1908 as an immigrant from Liverpool to New York, in search of a better life. This one is for you, grandfather. Thank you for making the admirable, though tough decision to leave your homeland behind with your family, and cross to the United States via the Lusitania, to take a gamble at a new, better life.

⭐️ Also in dedication to the Goffe and Allen family, who admirably continue to keep the Goffe brothers’ work in circulation amongst the family, so that their legacy may never be forgotten.

⭐️ And finally, this arrangement is written in memoriam to the 1,197 souls who were lost aboard the ‘Lusitania’ when she was torpedoed, and sunk within 18 minutes on May 7, 1915. May they never be forgotten.

HISTORY :

“Lusitania Waltzes” is a piano-based waltz written by Edwin E. Goffe in 1910, published under the Goffe Bros. Publishing Company in Providence, Rhode Island. The piece was met with an overwhelmingly positive reception, where it quickly became a popular waltz at the time. However unfortunately, this piece quickly became lost, and forgotten to time as the years went by. The Goffe Brothers were also known for their other popular pieces, such as ‘First Light Infantry March & Two-Step”, “Solmay Egyptian Intermezzo”, and “Everglades Two-Step”.
