Part 2 Ghoradeshwar Trek

Описание к видео Part 2 Ghoradeshwar Trek

The Ghoradeshwar Caves, also known as Shelarmadi Caves, are located about 25 km northwest of Pune, India. Originally Buddhist caves, they now feature carvings and sculptures of both Buddhist and Hindu deities.

Situated near the NH4 highway connecting Pune and Mumbai, these caves were carved out of a single rock around the 3rd or 4th century.

Adjacent to the Chaitya hall, there are nine meditation cells. An inscription in Brahmi script on one of the walls mentions that the Chaitya hall was lovingly dedicated to Buddha and the Sangha by the daughters of "Dhapar," a disciple of "Bhadantsingh." Today, the Chaitya hall is known as the Shri Ghorwadeshwar Temple.
