MD902 London Air Ambulance helicopter landing, startup & takeoff at London Heliport G-EHMS

The MD902 (MD Explorer) is a light twin utility helicopter. Designed in the early 1990s by McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems, it is currently produced by MD Helicopters.

London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to London’s most seriously injured patients. Using a helicopter from 8am to sunset, and rapid response cars at night or in adverse weather situations, London’s Air Ambulance brings the hospital to the patient when time is critical. We perform innovative and potentially life-saving procedures usually found in the emergency department on-scene. The team, consisting of an advanced trauma doctor, paramedic and consultant on most missions, can perform treatments such as open heart surgery, blood transfusions and general anaesthetic by the roadside.

London Heliport (ICAO: EGLW), previously called Battersea Heliport and currently known officially as the Edmiston London Heliport for sponsorship reasons, is London's only licensed heliport.
The facility opened on 23 April 1959, it is located in Battersea on the south bank of the River Thames a few miles southwest of Westminster Bridge and between Wandsworth Bridge and Battersea Railway Bridge. The heliport, once owned by Westland and then Harrods, is a very small site, it provides a helipad for take-off and landing, and onshore parking for three to four aircraft, depending upon their size.

London Heliport has a fully licensed rescue and firefighting service who are on duty for all aircraft movements at the port as well as providing an emergency response to any helicopter incident within the London area.
