Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) holds a highly respected place in Islamic history. Known for his unwavering faith in Allah and complete submission to His will, he is one of the greatest prophets in Islam. His legacy is deeply connected to Eid-ul-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, one of the holiest celebrations in the Muslim world.

💭 The Divine Dream – Allah’s Test

One of the most profound events in his life was when Allah showed him a dream—commanding him to sacrifice his beloved son, Prophet Ismail (AS). In Islam, the dreams of prophets are divine revelations. This was not just a dream—it was a test of his taqwa and obedience.

Despite the emotional weight of the command, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) accepted it without question, setting the standard for unwavering faith.

When Prophet Ibrahim told his son about the dream, Ismail (AS) showed incredible strength and submission. He replied:
“O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient.” (Quran 37:102)

This response reflects the ideal Islamic values of obedient children, strong family bonds, and deep faith. Prophet Ismail’s trust in Allah and his respect for his father continue to inspire Muslims today.

Together, father and son traveled to fulfill the divine command. When Prophet Ibrahim prepared for the sacrifice and raised the knife, Allah (SWT) intervened—replacing Ismail with a ram (known as dumba in Urdu) from Jannah (Paradise).

This powerful moment symbolizes Allah’s mercy and shows that sincere intention and submission are always accepted.

🕊️ The Essence of Qurbani (Udhiyah)

This event is the foundation of the Qurbani ritual during Eid-ul-Adha, where Muslims around the world sacrifice animals—goat, sheep, cow, or camel—to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion.

The meat is divided into three parts:
One-third for the poor and needy
One-third for friends and relatives
One-third for the family
This division strengthens the values of charity, community, and gratitude in Islam.

Eid-ul-Adha, celebrated on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, is not just about Qurbani (animal sacrifice) — it’s a sacred time for spiritual renewal, heartfelt Eid Salah, meaningful charity (sadaqah and zakat), deep family connection, and powerful Islamic reflection on sacrifice, gratitude, and obedience to Allah. This blessed day reminds Muslims worldwide to honor the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) with devotion, unity, and compassion.

Millions of Muslims also gather for Hajj during this time, while those who stay back still engage in spiritual acts like Qurbani, making dua, and drawing closer to Allah.
