Only had to use this tool once to help a friend out, but figured I’d make a video to show how to tighten the extractor rod on a Smith and Wesson 929, N-Frame Revolver.

Don’t wrench on the rod and the index star without case support.

Don’t use a crappy tool that can bend, kink, or deform the extractor rod. It has to move freely in the yoke.

Don’t over-tighten the rod. You can crack the index star interfacing rod, and it’ll require a gunsmith to re-time the cylinder lockup.
