India Today Energy Summit 2024: Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, discussed the Indian government's ambitious goals for electric vehicles by 2030. The targets include 30% electric private cars, 70% commercial vehicles, 40% buses, and 80% two- and three-wheelers. Currently, electric vehicles account for about 3% of total vehicles in India. Gadkari emphasised the need to reduce fossil fuel imports and increase exports to support the economy and reduce air pollution.
