STORYLINE:
Convoys of trucks carrying humanitarian aid including fuel drove through the Rafah crossing with Egypt into Gaza on Tuesday.

Men with sticks sat on top of some of the aid trucks, which in recent days have been chased by people desperate for food.

The latest delivery of aid, which was escorted by Hamas police, comes as Israel said it will keep fighting the militants despite international calls for a cease-fire.

Israel has drawn international outrage and rare criticism from the United States over the killing of civilians.

Nearly 20,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel declared war on Hamas, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza, which does not differentiate between civilian and combatant deaths.

Thousands more lie buried under the rubble of Gaza, the U.N. estimates.

Israel says 127 of its soldiers have died in its ground offensive after Hamas raided southern Israel on Oct. 7, killing about 1,200 people - mostly civilians - and taking about 240 hostages.
