One-eyed Jack

The truth is a one-eyed jack
walking the edge of a razor,
and the wind calls to him
from the blind side,
but the sighted side
is to the night
and the dancing shadows.

A sword that is sheathed
is a trust fund to a child
who will die in his
minority,
and jack’s sword
is sheathed,
and he will die
in poverty.

The wind speaks latin,
or french, but the words
are nigga to jack,
whose boots are worn
through,
whose feet begin to talk
to the edge.

Jack is the son
Of eliot’s Fisher King,
who counts his money,
with syllable sounds
in the air like the fall
of a sparrow.

The images from his
sighted side
pass through his mind into a blind abyss,
where he hears them cry
as they die,

And jack is afraid.
