That's according to President of Great Pacific Group, Barbados office, Colin Mitchell.

He tells the Business Report it differentiates them from tourism as the insurance industry commands the largest slice of the service sector.

He says the public is not always aware of the captive insurance industry, but it employs a large number of people in high-paying jobs.

The future of the captive insurance industry is bright, but the company president cautioned of a slowdown in the economy.

The Great Pacific Group official said twenty-five percent of all premiums paid go to captives, and that percentage is trending upwards.
