SINANDULOY: A name synonymous for veneration

Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe's (SCT) Sinulog 2020 version begins on the first note when a latin song Sanctus (Holy) plays, convincing a modern Filipina to participate in a holy religious Sinulog procession while at the peak of her street party craze.

SCT's masterpiece is among its grandest spectacles from its 2-year rest with over 200 performers packed the grandstage – nearly 100 intrumentalists plus a heavenly goosebumping 10-member choral in band accompaniment.

Sang by the angels in Isiah 6:3, Sanctus is an ancient solemn Christian hymn of adoration sung before the prayer of consecration in traditional liturgies. A famous version was by Libera. (Check youtube for its million hits. Lyrics via google).

The troupe reminds the young generation to sustain connection with God and His holy child Sto. Nino - the reason for celebrating the Sinulog Festival for over 30 years.

It has a strong veneration concept that speaks a serene communication with the Sto. Nino where children today are challenged to make a choice between a culture of worldly temptation and a culture of salvation.

Theirs (SCT) is breathtakingly elegant, and the uplifting song beckons the new breeds to be aware of their spiritual relationship with the holy providence as an antidote to the angst and pressures of modern life.

Truly, SCT's intellectual choreographers, creative costume and props designers inspire everyone's Sinulog journey to the depths of their own consciousness, that in a way or another, our young ones (including young ONCE) find time to pay homage, and rejuvinate spirit.

Having these said, I fearlessly say that SCT is the strongest to potentially snatch the championship crown for the NTH time under the Sinulog Based category.

Alas! Sinanduloy, a name synonymous for veneration.
