- So today I will be starting a new chapter in Endodontics series about the Endodontic Microbiology.
- In this part I on Endodontic Microbiology, I have discussed about how a vital pulp is essential for the defense of tooth, and how the bacteria eventually reach the pulp to cause necrosis and establish an infection.
- Endodontics is simply the science of the internal anatomy of the tooth, that is the pulp of the tooth. And the hence the field endodontics deals with the anatomy, the pathology and the treatment that is concerned with the pulp of the tooth.
- Pulp of the tooth is located in the core of the tooth, protected by two layer of hard tissues. The pulp is where all the blood vessels and nerves lie and provide nutrient and vitality to the tooth.
- Vitality of the pulp is very important to defend the tooth. Watch the video to know how.
- There are various ways a bacteria can gain access to the pulp. Most common out of all is caries. caries is the single most common cause of pulpal exposures. More are discussed in the video.

This is the first video on Endodontic Microbiology. In my future videos, I will be discussing more about the different types of infection, and how they spread in the RCS, as well as other subjects. Stay tuned !
