The Department of Basic Education has published its revised school calendar for this year and going into 2021. It shows that the school year will not be carried over to next year with grades R to 11 finishing the year on the 15th of December. Matriculants will also complete their examinations by year-end.
Marking for the matric exams is expected to be completed by the 22nd of January. The Matric results will be released on the 23rd of February. The Department of Basic Education says the 2021 school calendar will begin on the 25th of January for teachers and a few days later, learners will return to school. Public schools are currently on a four-week break and are set to resume on the 24th of August. Grade 12 learners and teachers will be returning to school from tomorrow.
The new calendar will be gazetted this week.
