Shamli's Story from Lal10 | Upaya Social Ventures

Shamli was married at 16 and had her first child when she was 19 years old. She and her husband moved to New Delhi, but couldn't afford to send their son to a good school. That's when Shamli decided to help her family earn more money by learning to stitch. Today she has a whole cluster of women working with her, creating handcrafted pieces for Upaya's portfolio partner, Lal10. Her income is helping her two children with their studies. Shamli's son, Suraj, is taking Digital Marketing courses, and she has big dreams for her daughter as well.
