This is a very simple demonstration of how we can use the lens of SIMPLICITY and chunking to create notes that are visually more representative of the information's conceptual relationships. This works for simple reactions and surprisingly well even for complex and multi-directional reaction schemes!

Here, we can leverage off spatial memory, the processing and encoding that was driven by the effort to represent it more simply, as well as a simpler appearance of notes that makes the key points easier to spot.

An important thing to note is that seeking simplicity in order to create simpler notes triggers cognitive processes of higher-order, relational and evaluative thinking. These things all increase encoding and therefore, improve long-term memory.

But because we're also activating higher-order learning, it naturally improves our ability to apply the information to solve problems, as well as understand it conceptually to a greater depth.

In other words, simpler note-taking to create memorable information "shapes" can actually drive deeper CONCEPTUAL understanding too!

Just one of the many interesting cognitive phenomena that we can exploit to weaponize our learning!
