Can we fix this flaking and peeling hardwood timber deck??

In this video we have a 41 square metre Merbau deck which the client has been maintaining themselves, however due to not sanding the deck back properly and layers of varnish building up the deck has now started to peel and flake...

We will be giving it a hard sand back, going over the deck twice with THE BIG MACHINE starting on 40grit and moving on to 60grit. It is important to not use a high grit otherwise the deck will become too smooth and slippery.

We then go around the edges with our trusty American Sanders Edger, a quick coffee break of course, and then we are onto hand scraping the corners. After this we use the orbital sander to smooth any rough spots and give the deck a quick vacuum to prepare for oiling.

Two coats of Woca Exterior Wood Oil gets applied, leaving it overnight to dry in between coats. And the deck is as good as new leaving behind a protective penetrating oil which looks amazing too!
