Trail etiquette means the difference between a successful group ride and a flop of a ride. How your horse behaves has an impact on the rest of the horses in the group. There are things you can do to lessen the impact of a horse that misbehaves in the group. The rider however needs to be aware that he has options.
Being an enjoy companion out on the trial does have its responsibilities. You are responsible for keeping your horse in a position to succeed.
Mike has been the trail chairman for the Missouri Foxtrotting Horse Breed Association for the past 3 year term. Mike has gone to rides all across the country and has seen some things he wants to remind you to follow. You want to be one of the riders that people enjoy being around! Instead of the rider that causes problems with the group. Prepare your horse for the type of terrain you will encounter. Training on the group ride isn’t the best idea!
