Perennials, Essential to the Farm System

Managing dryland salinity and controlling the saline water table has been something Michael White has been addressing on his North Stirlings farming property for over 3 decades. Having adapted to a range of perennials pastures such as lucerne, tagasaste, chicory, tall wheat grass, puccinellia and saltbush, has resulted in a lowering of the water table and salinity issues become more controlled. In this video Michael talks about how establishing perennials pastures, native revegetation, alley farming and various farming techniques, have led to a substantial increase in farm production on his 2500 Ha cropping/ sheep property called ‘Stirling Plains’.
