Bitcoin, Stablecoins and CBDCs: How US Policy Is About to Change

This webinar was given on Thursday, March 9, 2022 by Timothy Massad, a research fellow at M-RCBG and former chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which in 2015 under his leadership declared cryptocurrencies to be commodities. He has been writing and speaking about crypto extensively, including recently testifying before the Joint Economic Committee of Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

US policy for the crypto industry is suddenly a hot topic in Washington. In the last few months, multiple Congressional hearings, major reports from the Federal Reserve and financial regulators and comments by senior officials are signaling that important changes in policy could take place soon. This seminar will cover what’s likely to happen on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), stablecoins and regulation of bitcoin and altcoins generally, and how these developments will shape the future of money.
