The Wazir Khan Mosque, located in the heart of Lahore's Walled City, is a 17th-century Mughal-era mosque renowned for its intricate tile work and elaborate frescoes. Commissioned by Hakeem Ilam-ud-din Ansari, known as Wazir Khan, who was the chief physician to Emperor Shah Jahan and later the governor of Punjab, the mosque was constructed between 1634 and 1641. ​

Historical Significance:
Built over a period of seven years, the mosque was constructed around the tomb of the revered saint Syed Mohammad Ishaq Gazrooni, also known as Miran Badshah, who migrated from Iran in the 13th century. This integration of a Sufi saint's tomb within the mosque complex underscores the fusion of spiritual and architectural endeavors during the Mughal period. ​

Architectural Features:
Tile Work (Kashi Kari): The mosque's exterior is adorned with intricate Persian-style tile mosaics, showcasing floral patterns and calligraphy. ​

Frescoes: The interior surfaces are richly embellished with elaborate frescoes that blend Mughal and local artistic traditions, covering almost every inch of the walls and ceilings. ​

Structural Layout: The mosque features a rectangular courtyard measuring approximately 86.17 by 50.44 meters, flanked by four towering minarets at each corner, each standing about 107 feet tall. ​
