A ficção científica é uma vertente que faz parte do cinema há muito tempo. Mais precisamente há mais de 100 anos, surgindo pela primeira vez em 1902, quando George Méliès encantou o mundo com o curta-metragem 'A viagem à Lua'.

Apesar de milhares de produções do gênero criadas nesse meio tempo, há quem diga que ficção científica é gênero inexplorado pelo cinema brasileiro.
