TO SPECIAL - TTC Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension Opening (500th Video)

On Sunday, December 17th, 2017, TTC riders on Line 1 finally got the chance to hop on the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension, with six new subway stops to Downsview Park, Finch West, York University, Pioneer Village, Highway 407, and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. The Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension isthe first new subway to open in Toronto since the Sheppard Line in 2002. The extension is the largest expansion of Toronto's subway system in nearly 40 years. The length of the extension is 8.6 km, with 6.2 km in the City of Toronto and 2.4 km in York Region. During construction, costs grew from the original
$2.6 billion to about $3.2 billion. It took 6 years to complete the extension.
