On May 9, 2024, the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and Gennadius Library will host their eighth annual Gala to benefit the School’s mission of preserving, promoting, and protecting all aspects of Greek culture from antiquity to the present. During our premier event of the year, we celebrate Greece’s rich heritage with the Hellenic world’s most influential leaders and scholars and honor those who have made significant contributions to the study of the Greek world.

The Gala provides an important source of funding for the School and its academic programming, excavations, outreach, publications, and research, as well as a wide range of free public lectures, exhibitions, concerts, and award-winning short films.

We are pleased to announce that we will be presenting Mary R. Lefkowitz, with the prestigious Athens Prize for her outstanding contributions to the advancement of knowledge of ancient Greece. Previous recipients have been archaeologist John Camp, Aegean prehistorian Malcolm Wiener, epigrapher Ronald Stroud, and economic historian Edward Cohen.
