Reconsideration is the first appeals level after your initial claim has been turned down. Statistically, reconsideration results in a change of opinion from denial to approval 10% of the time, 1 time out of 10. Your chances are not great. I advise all of my clients that once they've been turned down at the initial level, they are probably in it for the long haul, which means it's going to be another year and a half to two years before they can get in front of a judge at the hearing level, and the problem is the same people who turned you down on your initial application are the ones who are taking a look at your reconsideration, and unless there's something that they missed, and something substantial that you can provide them with that they haven't considered, they will not change their minds.
