On Wednesday 22 October, CPA UK held a lecture exploring the ways parliamentarians and civil society can increase transparency and enhance equitable economic development.

The panellists focused on recent reports that have highlighted the 'Trillion dollar scandal;' at least $1 trillion each year lost to developing countries through illicit financial flows, namely corruption, tax evasion, embezzlement and money laundering. These illicit flows far out-weigh the value of aid from donor countries, and if recovered the revenues could significantly enhance the economic position of some of the world's poorest people.
