This is the introduction to the 3h course Fundamental X.509 PKI in Theory and OpenSSL.

Across 18 lessons, this course covers fundamental concepts and components of X.509 Public-Key Infrastructures (PKIs) and outlines, how X.509 PKIs allow to provide trust into the authenticity of cryptographic public keys, without which, data can’t be properly secured within digital information systems.

The theory presented is complemented with the hands-on construction of a 2-tier X.509 PKI with OpenSSL. The course then culminates in a demonstration on how the constructed X.509 PKI can be used to ultimately provide confidentiality and authenticity to the data exchanged within a simulated digital information system.
