Elvis Presley - Twenty Days and Twenty Nights - 15 July 1970 - Rehearsal versions with Stereo audio

To me this is the song which defines the Elvis Presley of 1970. It was the first song he recorded in Nashville in June 1970 and it is a well crafted piece of adult contemporary pop with an interesting and rather difficult melodic line and a story that Elvis tells with commitment in the studio master in particular and the lyrics show how Elvis had matured both as an artist and entertainer.
The Elvis of the 50's or 60's pre-American Sound Studios could not, I believe, have carried this material off at least with such sound credibility. A real favourite of mine especially the studio master.
Elvis in collaboration with the filmmakers decided to include it in his setlist so that it could be filmed as a possible inclusion in the final edit of That's The Way It Is in 1970. The original movie, unfortunately, had no trace of the song, the only track from the album which accompanied the movie not to be included.

It was not until 1992 and the release on home video of The Lost Performances that the only live version of the song was seen by anyone other than those in attendance during that 12 August 1970 dinner show (   • Elvis Presley - Twenty Days and Twent...  ) . There was also a full stage rehearsal of the song filmed but it has yet to see an official release.
The 2001 re-edited version of the original 1970 movie would have appeared to be the perfect opportunity to include either version of the song but the producers had other ideas. Instead they used the song as a way to progress the movie from the Culver City rehearsals to those that took place within the conference room of the International Hotel.
This video contains that complete version and audio of a second rehearsal that took place immediately after the filmed version.

As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
